This is one of the final edits of my magazine front cover. I have had problems with uploading the final version, mainly due to the programme of pages I have used away from lesson time.

This again, is the final edit of my magazine's contents page. I have had problems with uploading the document as a PDF or JPEG, as the newer version of Pages is not compatible with the old version. I have used a print screen to display my contents page.

Page layout (photos and text)
Photos - The photos I will use in my double page spread will be of the band I am using for my main article. They will be placed around the text, catching attention but still allowing the reader to focus on my article. They will range in size, but will not be too big in contrast with my text
Title - The title of my double page spread will be the band name. I will also have a catch phrase in smaller text than the name of the band, as if this article is a main feature of the magazine every week, and the reader will know that in all main articles they will start off with this catch phrase, which is something readership will recognise with my magazine. It will also start off with a short introduction of the band, recognising their reputation and what they have been known to represent.
Article - The article of my magazine will start off with an introduction of the band, and will be of the interview genre, where my questions will be read in bold type, with the answer of the band in normal type. I will also include quotes from well known people or icons, casting their opinion of the band.
Background - The background will be something that contrasts with the text, so as you can see the text clearly and easily. I have not decided on a colour, but it will be something that goes with the front cover, to keep a running theme of the main article that is being advertised on the front cover, and then to be the same on the double page spread article.

After thought and research into music magazines, I have found that there are a certain genre of main article/other, less important features in the magazines that I can use on a double page spread. I have found that these consist of:
- A main article on a newly founded/recently discovered music band
- A little history of the band (included in the main article)
- A form of 'top ten most popular' ranging from albums to artists
- Tour dates of main article (included in main article)
- Various pictures with various sizes
- A band that are similiar to the main article feature
- An interview type article as the main article

All of these features above are common in magazines, for obvious reasons, as magazines cater to entertain and inform. However these features go together, and will do in my magazine, as they all can relate to the main article, and all have a simbiotic relationship.

This is the final edit of the picture I am choosing for my background for my front cover.

This is the image I am using as my picture/background on the front cover I am using. I chose this image because it is fairly symetrical, with the focus being centre-t0-high on the page, leaving a blank spot for my text. I will erase the background of the characters with a white, which will make the characters stand out and my text stand out on the white backdrop. I have also taken into account the rule of thirds, where I have three lines going down the page and three lines going across the page. This gives out boxes, ans in these boxes I have my main focus. This again tells me where to put my text, which will now feature away from the faces of the characters.

This is my first edit of my magazine front cover, created without looking at any other popular magazine cover. I went for the picture in the middle of the page, and then placing the text around the centre image, using the darker, more uninteresting areas for the texts.

1. Title - This is where I will place my title, spreading it the full width of the page. This will be the main feature of the page, drawing out attention to the name of the magazine. I have not yet decided on a title name or font colour.

2. Genre banner - this feature will show the readership what type of article will be inculded in this magazine, and will show a certain theme you can expect to find througout the magazine. This will appeal to readers interested in the type of genre, but will not appeal to people with other tastes.

3. Free! circle - This circlular text will feature an entising product for free within the magazine. This will give readers more than just their magazine appitite, and hopefully a small product they can continue to use.

4. Issue/Price logo - although a small peice of text, I will include this information very close to my magazine title, making it easier to spot next to such a big feature. I will use an opposite or bold colour to make this stand out

this magazine features a massive article in the film world, with a well know icon fronting the page. Although the main theme is red, the subtle blue background is an opposite to red, making the main parts of text stand out. What I liked about this front cover most was the way it is put together, with the main article in the centre of the page, with the other, less interesting articles underneath it.

This magazine features a white background which makes all fonts stand out, not to mention the image which is two people wearing black. Here the main colour theme though is red, and with this white background stands out both boldly and clearly. The woman in the shot also appears to be grabbing on to the title of the magazine, I noticed this as it gives a small gesture that the page is springing out of the paper at you. The bottom of the magazine shows more articles that are not as important as the main feature on the page, but still can be noticed as the font is white and background black. I like this cover and will take into consideration the features it contains.

My magazine title

As I am doing the magazine side of the foundation portfolio, I have had many ideas on the final draft of my magazine. I have decided to call it 'Breakbeat' magazine, a magazine that specialises in the 'Electro' genre of music. This is a quick, easy name that I intend to be remembered by the public, to whom this magazine will appeal too. I have decided on a font, and without being a standard font from any computer or professionally done, will feature at the top of my page, along with standing out from the background of the front cover of my magazine. The title will also feature sort of graffiti theme (somewhat along the lines of what I have been shown in previous lessons), and perhaps a slogan/motto underneath the title. The font/shadow/exclamation mark colours are not yet decided, but for each feature mentioned of the title, I will choose a different colour.
